Welcome to Department of Physical Sciences

Physical Sciences department is a community of active, dedicated and accomplished faculty with national and international repute and recognition for their contributions to teaching and research. The department engages in cutting-edge research in a variety of fields and has made great contribution to the development of science through research. We are passionate about mentoring students through their curriculum, engaging students in field and laboratory work. Our faculty in Industrial Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics partner across disciplines in research and service projects.

Physical Sciences co-existed with other units under the Department of Sciences, College of Science and Engineering at inception of Landmark University in March 2011. At the commencement of the 2012/2013 academics session i.e. September, 2012, each unit under the Department of Sciences had grown into full Department hence the commencement of the Department of Physical Sciences.

The Department of Physical Sciences is a peculiar Department which currently houses four programs;
• Geophysics Programme
• Industrial Chemistry Programme
• Mathematics Programme
• Physics Programme

Each of these Programmes have various options running under their umbrella.
Physical Sciences has a rich base Faculty with high impact profiles. A total of twenty nine (29) committed Faculty (Tenured and Sabbatical), six (6) active Technical staff and Two (2) dynamic Administrators currently grooming and building a total of 78 students across Programmes and options.
The Department of Physical Sciences also provide courses to other Students in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Engineering. It is therefore a major player in the transformation of students into expert thinkers, solution providers, innovative managers and resourceful technocrats which are part of the dream of the University.

The Department have received the NUC accreditation team three (3) times. The first visit was in January 2014, and the most recent visit was in November, 2019. Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics Programmes are fully accredited for operations and graduation of students. Geophysics Programme commenced operations during the 2018/2019 academic session and will be receiving NUC accreditation team within the next academic sessions.
